We Don't Remember Christmas
(2023)

We Don’t Remember Christmas opposes the jolliness of Christmas; for Nate, Christmas became a difficult period for him due to complicated family relations. This period of time became less about festivities, family and unity, and more about negative anticipation, disappointment, and unpleasant reminders. Nate choosing to shoot this series in black and white contrasts with the vibrancy of the rest of his work, depicting the emotional turmoil that this holiday brings forward.
This series was created with the intention of representing not only Nate, but others who may experience discomfort or stress during Christmas, such as victims of domestic abuse, the LGBTQ+ community, and neurodivergent people.
